All about the Preset Views & FAQ’s
New!- Sail Away 1 through 6 are now designated for Cruise Ship "Sail Away Settings". Easily follow Cruise Ships from their docking position (Sail Away #1) , past our web-cam and into the Atlantic ocean (Sail Away #6). This is especially helpful during busy sail away times when the camera control is slow to respond.
Viewers can now take a more in-depth look at the beautiful surroundings in which our Port Everglades Webam is located. This should also answer many of the email questions we receive about what's in our camera’s view.
Many thanks for all of the wonderful emails we constantly receive from viewers locally, and all over the globe.
Thank you for visiting the Port Everglades Webcam!

“Boating Conditions at Port Everglades Inlet”
Since this webcam has such a high powered zoom lens, the waves you see on the horizon are actually about .5 - 1.0 of a statue mile offshore. Once the cam is in this location, it can be maneuvered along the horizon. Freighters can also be seen passing by in the shipping channel (up to 10 miles away!) and some viewers have actually seen fish being reeled into boats offshore. Back to webcam
“Sunrise”
Watch the spectacular sunrise every day over the Atlantic Ocean in Ft. Lauderdale!
Please note: Click the “contrast” button on the cam when the sunlight becomes too bright to see the true orange colors.

“Osprey Perch” & “Osprey Feeding”

We have an Osprey who perches on the same branch every day out at the point (Osprey Perch) to hunt for bait-fish in the inlet. Once the prey is located, it will then swoop down and pick up the fish with its talons, fly around for a minute or two and then land on the tower across the inlet to devour it's catch. Sometimes it will eat in the hunting perch, but on most occasions will choose the "Osprey Feeding" perch to enjoy its meal. This is absolutely incredible to watch! The early morning and late afternoon hours are the best time for seeing the Osprey. Our resident Iguana has also been spotted recently sitting on the feeding perch. Back to webcam
“Parrot Nest”
A colony of about 8-10 Green Quaker Parrots are currently building their nest in a coconut tree along the seawall. They must be smart birds because they chose the best waterfront view in Ft. Lauderdale to build their nest! All throughout the day you will see green parrots landing on the fronds of this coconut palm tree with a stick in their beak. Once you see a parrot(s) land on the palm frond (most times on the left side), zoom in to watch these beautiful green birds go into the center of the tree to work on their nest. Since they just started building the nest in December, this will be ongoing for months. If we are fortunate enough not to have a storm this year, you will also see the baby chicks when they hatch! “Iguana Watch”
We have 2 resident iguanas which can be seen running along the seawall and eating grass in this area all throughout the day. You need to look closely because since they can change colors so quickly, they can blend in easily with the color of the grass. Back to webcam
“ Sunset”
Enjoy the sunset celebration (mostly) every day. During the winter months, most of the cruise ships will sail away during the sunset hours of 5-6 PM (EDT). Click the “contrast” button on the cam when the sunlight becomes too bright to see the true orange colors.
***Please note- Best viewed with “Happy Hour Cocktail” in hand!

"Dania Beach Fishing Pier & Hollywood Beach"
The Dania Beach Fishing Pier & Condos along Hollywood Beach can be easily seen when zoomed in to this location. On a sunny day, watch beach goers soaking up the sun and sand. Ft Lauderdale Beach and Dania Beach are also very popular for Kite Surfing / Kite Boarding on a windy day. Occasionally, you will also see a Para-glider fly along the beach while the cam is in this position. Paragliding is becoming very popular along Ft Lauderdale Beach and Dania Beach.
